Wedding Wednesday - Engagement session why is it important?

I love getting to spend time with my bride and groom before the big day - Hence the fact I offer a free engagement session with each wedding booking. It give me a opportunity to spend time with you and get to know you! See how you are in front of a camera , what your comfortable with and the chemistry you have with that special someone . It also allows us to talk about lighting , posing and what you can expect from me on the big day! Everyone gets those gitters when having to stand in front of a camera.. how do I look? , I feel dumb?, do I look fat? Its so important to trust the photographer you hired , they know the best light , where to shoot to compliment you, what poses work best for the two of you and how to have fun and laugh and not feel stupid. Those engagement shoots allow so much more then just getting photos for your invites, It allows us to have a great time getting to know each other and I love spending the time with each one of my couples before there big day!
Now onto this special session...

This engagement session was so fun , they travel far and wide all the way to Claresholm to head up in the hills to snap some fun photos in the mountains. With in the first 5 mins we were laughing as they watched me almost fall flat on my face gear in hand as we trecked though waist high snow .. so if they felt silly Im sure after watching me they must of felt a little at ease. It did not take long to discover that these 2 had great chemistry and that they were madly in love with each other.. They just gazed at each other and laughed and kissed ! I also got to learn there super fun and cute way they met each other ( its my favorite part of shooting) It was obvious they are meant to be together. I loved spending the time with them and cant wait to spend there special day with them this summer.. Thanks for allowing me to tag along on your dream day! Congrats !

Wedding Wed with the Lunds

I started in the new year a thing called Wedding Wed.. so that means Every Wed I will be posting a wedding session , or maybe some tips for Brides on planning weddings.. or for you photographers just starting, maybe It will be some helpful tips on shooting a wedding .. Now for todays Wedding, I'm excited to show you some of my favorites from this wedding in Dec with the Lunds. It was with the sweetest family. Everyone was so kind and caring I felt right at home as I spent the time shooting them and there family. I was so excited to be able to do a wedding at the Calgary Temple. Its a beautiful place up high on a hill over looking part of Calgary! It was a tad chilly but the couple were such troopers. With the bride and her winter boots under her dress she was prepared to get her done. We went from the Temple to downtown Calgary ! It was amazing .. other then it being cold I could of spent a ton more time there ! I really loved spending time with your family , Thanks for allowing me in on such a special day to you guys! Congrats and all the best to you guys!

Seriously I love dad moments .. but this dad has got to be one of the most kind and proud dads I have met! He just looked at his daughter all day and you could see how proud he was of her.. It did not take much to get him full of emotions .. It was just a simple lets take a photo of you two that turned into a long embrace and exchange of kind words.. I really love moments like these ! 

All about me...

This post is a tad different then others cause this time its all about me... I wanted to take a second and get you guys a tad bit informed .. most of you just follow me on Instagram ( which by the way Im now on .. so remember to also check me out there at @mcclungphotography , there going to be lots of upcoming prizes and fun giveaways in the coming month ) Or you follow me on Facebook, know of me cause of a friend I shot a wedding for , or heard my name floating around town. BUT I wanted you guys to really know who I am so Im not just a name but a face and a name ! Im Megan McClung owner of McClung Photography .. and I love lots of things .. way to many to actually mention so I will spare you with only mentioning a few things. I love my family . Im a mom of 4 beautiful kids ranging from 8-8 months old.. YES im a busy mom, I love it ! I kinda love being busy and always doing something... which is funny cause I also love reading ..though to be honest its been a long times since I have sat down with a good book! I do really love also learning. Im always looking for new things to learn. How to  sew or cooking or photography. Its my favorite thing to plug in my ear phones and listen to a great photography class online while cleaning .. let me say I only like cleaning when my kids are gone .. haha lets be honest cleaning with little dirty hands touching everything 5 steps behind me is not fun !! 

I Love my job I have felt with the new year that McClung Photography deserves a face Lift I have with much thought decided to upgrade, change and re brand my business. So you may see some new exciting things coming. Like blog posts more often , Thank you gifts for booking with me , a new way to pay online, digital booking and new webpage.. Im super excited and am excited to bring you along on my new adventure !! I have also decided to focus my efforts on 2 things. I have decided to no longer take newborn or maternity photos. I love you beautiful pregnant mommas but its time to focus on Families and Weddings , the 2 things I just love the most!  So stay tuned for some many exciting things to come... and please if you feel inclined to show me some love head over ad follow along with me and my adventure!
